In August 2007 myBorder Collie Luna aged 5 yrs (Lunarlite My Fire) damaged her shoulder whilst competing in an agility competition. Luna jumped a jump and caught the wing, as the next obstacle required a pull through and the wing landed on her shoulder. Luna continued to work and finish the round but once we left the ring it became apparent that she had injured herself.
I did the usual, total rest for a 2-week period and she didn’t improve, I was worried that she could have a broken bone so Luna was x rayed and everything looked normal. Luna was then put on anti-inflammatory pain relief. She wasn’t lame anymore but the problem returned with exercise. We tried several types of pain relief. In November I decided to take her off the anti-inflammatory pain relief, as the situation wasn’t improving I tried other natural remedies and increased her exercise gradually with lead walks. This helped but there was still slight lameness and she couldn’t go running off lead with the other dogs.
After reading about the Back on Track pain relief garments, I gave Luna a gradual three-day build-up wearing a Back on Track dog rug, after which she was ready to sleep in it overnight. The results were amazing. After one month’s use, Luna’s slight lameness had gone, and she was now enjoying off-lead walks and running with the other dogs … something I never thought she would do again. Luna’s agility training has resumed, and I am building her up gradually. At the moment, she is only jumping small heights but I am hopeful of competing with her again in the future.
I was so impressed with Luna’s recovery I decided to try Back on Track myself, as I sometimes suffer from knee pain after and during weekend agility shows. The joint feels twisted after wearing football boots whilst running the dogs, so I thought I would try the Back on Track horse back pad (which I use as a mattress for Luna), and slept with it wrapped around my knees. Again it was amazing, as the pain had gone after only one night’s wear.
After experiencing the benefits for myself, I now understand why Luna is happy to wear her rug and why she has improved so much, so quickly.
The Back on Track dog rug has given
Luna her life back.
These products are brilliant, and the results that myself and my dog have experienced have been incredible.
